I was over at the Stead's this evening.  He supplied curry and I took pudding.  Pudding in this instance consisted of rhubarb crumble and custard.


We almost had a falling out (Stead doesn't know how close he came to being sat on to death) beacuse we couldn't agree on the proper way to serve custard with a hot dessert.


I, of course wanted it heated up and served hot.  Stead on the other hand, announced that it was right and proper to serve it cold.


Well, I was astonished.  Despite my protestations, Stead refused to microwave the custard.  As we were in his house, I was unable to mount a proper offense and had to concede to having cold custard on my hot rhubarb crumble.


How wrong is that?

I have 4 things to say here:


1  Custard should be served HOT with any type of cake type thingy


2  Rhubarb should be eaten, not ever! Its rubbish and smelly and not good!


    Apple pie and hot custard yes, rhubarb, Bleeuuurgggh!


3  Im jealous that Daz has a Jammy Dodger pal who he can actually visit, none of my


    pals are of the jammy dodger sort


4  im pished, blame it on the jack daniels i got for my birthday!

Have to say I didnt realise you felt that strongly about it me old pal! -


But custard should be cold on hot puddings... and cold puddings for that matter... who knows really?


Wasnt this all kinda decided because I didnt have anything to microwave it in?

Have to say I can't enjoy a rhubarb crumble. Now apple and blackberry is another matter, and custard should always, most definitely be hot.....unless you buy that ambrosia stuff in a carton, then you can have that cold.

I hate to disagree, your royal jamminess, but the point is you're meant to eat 5 different fruit & veg as no one (no, not even rhubarb) has all the possible nutrients in one package.

1. I've never had custard hot, so I can't really make a call on that one, but I always thought, hot dessert, cold topper... like hot apple pie with ice cream sort of thing.

2. Rhubarb is the devil. My father in law loves making rhubarb pie, and he makes me eat it and my face turns inside out and my insides protest and I have to smile and say "mmmmmmm thats so good" while really I want to spit it in my napkin and cry.

3. I too am quite sad that there are absolutely no JD's around for me to visit with either. Even Mandie (Andromeda) went and moved to another state She went where the old people go.

4. You had a 4th point, so I thought I'd have one too. I am not pished at all.

Custard rocks.  It also solidifies on impact, which is extra cool.


Jackie - just pretend I live next door.  Go and see you neighbour, call him the King and ask him for a packet of jammie dodgers to sate your craving.  It'll be fine...
