Where do you go?

Where do you go when you're not here?  On the internet, I mean.  What forums do you visit?

I don't post in forums nearly as much as I used to.  I think a combination of Facebook and my daily blog posts satisfy any major cravings to post nonsense and any overspill (which apparently isn't much these days) ends up here.

I do visit Circvs Maximvs pretty much every day, though.  My brother runs a small publishing company called EN World that focusses on role playing games.  This is an offshoot forum, which grew up around that community and became something entirely different.  It also has an amusing Roman theme.

I also lurk around AV Forums.  Their General Chat forum makes me feel positively normal and intelligent.  And if I want to feel really dirty, I have a look in the general discussion forums of Digital Spy which I never fail to find positively hilarious.

I used to visit Utter Access for work, in fact that's where the the inital seed of the bored board was sown, but I haven't been back there in years.

And that's about it.  I don't even surf the net properly much these days - all the news sites I used to go to now feed into my google reader account, so I only have to look in one place.  On my phone.

God, I'm getting lazy.  Or is that iLazy?

Facebook, Punkymoms (a parenting forum for weirdos like me ;P ) and TotalFark are pretty much the only places I linger for any length of time. I check here every day though.

I'm sure we'd all be happy to discuss parenting here if you want. Obviously, you might get some unorthodox, maybe even radical suggestions from some of our members. Stuff like 'give it a gun' or 'shoot it with a crossbow'. You know. Helpful stuff.

Since my main parenting philosophy is "Just keep them from killing themselves", those suggestions don't really work for me ;)

I think you're unneccessarily limiting yourself.

Facebook and Myspace are the dumbest excuses for bandwidth on the planet...I resigned both...The majority of my posts are being ignored, I mean admired, on The Cracker Barrel and Downfall Parodies ...There's also a closed-to-the-public board where I make fun of members who can't understand why there's no action on a closed-to-the-public board...wary...Ben

I don't use MySpace at all. It's possible that I may have set up a profile there years ago; I don't remember.

Facebook, however is a different story. I think it depends a lot on how you use it. In between all the drooling baby photos and the complaining and the moaning (and the seriously unhinged, in the case of my cousin), I actually follow the posts of a few writers, independent (and not so independent) filmmakers, artists, comedians, programmers and the like, that make for quite an interesting feed.

Facebook allows me to fulfill my obligatory connections to some people without having to actually interact with them in any real way.

Tek-tips UK forum (though that's dead quiet nowadays), the barefoot forum on Runnersworld.com & I occasionally lurk (but absolutely never post) on a local forum, full of scary, scary people.
I do use fb, but rarely bother to write owt myself.

I use FB because its useful to keep in touch with people and stuff

I use the cubase forum for top tips on studio recording and to continually prove to myself that I engineer music at least as well as my peers

I occasionally look at bodybuilding.com because they have some good experts on health, fitness and lifting weights on there. Their 'Misc' section is often a lot of fun - so really weird people out there!

I should probably go and see if there are any 'local' forums to me.  Bristol people are bonkers!  Should be fun.

My local one is now meant to have a forum for every UK town, it's called qlocal. Of course, just because the forum may exist, doesn't mean anyone posts in it. not sure if they plan to roll out the random moderating across all sites.

The closest I can get is Bristol, which is 20 miles away. And there are no posts. I think the extra finger on each hand makes it too hard to type!
