Yay I want one

Untapped potential

Now, I don't like competative nasty bad drivers.

This system looks great but it has a better potential in my mind. I think that you should be able to upload examples of bad or dangerous driving to a web based database that includes the video grab and registration of the car behaving badly.

The system could tie the driver to the registered vehical and if there are more than say ten examples of him driving badly submitted by different people they could be submitted for review by the police (not to fine the driver) but to make him take his test again.

Also I think that drivers who have multiple hits should pay higher car insurance.

Anyone care to discuss?

It's agreat business idea as well don't you think?

Not a bad idea at all.  It would certainly make some insurance claims easier to sort out.  Gonna be a pricey bit of kit though, I imagine.

I always though that if the police or council wanted to make a bit of extra revenue without resorting to speed cameras, they should just drive around in an unmarked car and pull over all those people who don't bother indicating, drive like tossers and generally irritate the hell out of everyone on the road.

On my average drive home, which only last 25 minutes or so, I see three or four examples of dangerous driving.  If the police levied a £40 on the spot fine for this behaviour, not only would they make a ton of cash, but the drivers in question would think twice about how they drive!

And I can't count the number of cyclists I see riding around in the dark with no lights and dark clothing.  I shudder to think how many of 'em I don't see!  I think they should be pulled over and their bikes confiscated on the spot.  Basserds.  At the very least, they should hold some sort of insurance so that when they cause an accident it ain't the driver that has to foot the bill!

I think the price of the kit will come down and could be subsidised by insurance companies.

Ok now thinking again but I think you should also be rewarded if you catch somone on film and they get fined as an incentive, say 50% of the fine goes to the driver who catches and uploads it.

This may not include just bad driving it could apply to fly tipping etc.

And imagine how much more info the police could get about crimes if they could pull video footage from all the cars in the area at the time of the incident.
