The following Dodgers have been smited by the JDK for their crimes against Jam:
All the girls! for picking on the JDK and damaging his already delicate self esteem!
The Basserd Who Nicked Copper's Stuff For the offense of nicking Copper's stuff. You are a tw*t, whoever you are and we all hope you get run over by a tram in Nottingham. Or Liverpool. Or whereever else they have trams!
Copper For the crime of playing with her Wii instead of her Jammie pals!
I just thought I'd share the cause of my frustration with you.
Sort codes. They're a simple concept. Each branch of each bank in the UK has a six digit sort code which uniquely identifies it, right? The first two didgist identify the bank - 30 is Lloyds, 60 is Nat West 20 is Barclays and so on; and the next 4 identify the branch. Easy.
We have about 2500 branches. We also have 4 more digits to play with, so it should be really, really easy to provide each branch with it's own sort-code.
Shouldn't it?
Noooooooo. OUR bank supplements many of these with 8 digit sort codes - an extra 2 digits on the beginning or end, sub branches that share sort codes with their parent branches and branches that have NO SORTCODE AT ALL!
To add to my frustrations, not one of the bank's systems stores the same sort codes in the same format. Any given branch will be shown with a 6 digit code on one system and an extra 2 digit prefix on another and 2 extra digits on the end on another. And some branches have entirely different sort codes on different systems.
