JDBB SONG 2!

Ah my dear friends -

Last year (and some of you wont know this being noobs and all) - this happened

http://jdbb.activeboard.com/index.spark?forumID=12881&subForumID=12833&action=viewTopic&commentID=1457318

Well its been nearly 12 months and I thought it time to put ourselves up to the challenge once again.

I (and Hengle - though he dont know it yet - and JDK) will record, produce and publish a cover version of a song voted for by you beautiful people. You choose and we will do it.

Recording will start early December probably as I have lots to do between now and then and I aim to deliver in time for Chrimbo (or Dec 25th if you are a non-believer).

So shall we start with some suggestions and then move on to the choosing and the voting? Or if you think the idea sucks - that too.

Woohoo.  Nice one dude!  Will you be inviting the other Bored Boarders to submit sampled recording of their own dulcet tones or musical talents again this time?

I propose a full blown league table by which the song will be selected this time.

As for song suggestions... I'll have a think!

Indeed - once we decide what key its in I will ask for something suitable or percussive in your case. Get that musical egg ready...

How about

Our lips are sealed or any other song by Jane Wiedlin

or

Murder She Wrote by Chaka Demus & Pliers - kidding about this one

I'll have to think but a JW track would be kewl

I only half kiddingly suggest anything from RHPS - (Rocky Horror Picture Show for the uninitiated) where you have to dress the part. And make a video. And send it to all of us.

The End.

I can just picture Stead telling us about his Sweet Transvestitism.

I think RHPS would be an appropriate followup after Hedwig

All good suggestions - possibly something less humiliating?

Video would be bad...

I was thinkin'... something by Abba or the Monkees.  Being a huge fan of both groups, he'd so love to do one of 'em.

Heard a great song called Middle of the Night the other day.  Got it stuck on my brain for ages.  Can't remember who it's by though...

Ugh now I've got that Billy Joel song stuck in my head...

In the middle of the night
I go walking in my sleep
From the mountains of faith
To the river so deep
I must be lookin' for something
Something sacred I lost
But the river is wide
And it's too hard to cross
even though I know the river is wide
I walk down every evening and stand on the shore
I try to cross to the opposite side
So I can finally find what I've been looking for

Sigh..

How about a JDBB cover of Erasure's cover of Solsbury Hill?

I heart that song.

Heh... not quite the one I was thinking about.

Goes more along the lines of:

So shut your mouth,
Shut it tight,
We'll come for you in the middle of the night...

Never said it was a good song...

Stead - are you putting a time limit on nominations?  A week or so, maybe?

Please, this time, something with some balls to it.  That Hedwig song was bloody awful.

I lied at the time 'cos you all seemed to like it, and as such we recorded it.  Well ... I say we, I contributed the "thunder" and about 8 notes

And NO BLOODY BILLY BLOODY JOEL!   *ahem*

How about something old and metal?  Some Priest or Maiden?  Or maybe some Napalm Death?

Now a bit of old Maiden - that would be cool - run to the hills or such and such or so and so would be good...

I'm from the land of Billy Joel (he's a Long Island boy) and I can't stand him either..so no worries about a vote on that from my end...

Napalm Death.. now THAT would be interesting... "The Great and The Good" with Stead as Jello Biafra.. woohoo!!

But seriously, that might be a little much..

How about "Land of Sunshine" by Faith No More..mmmmmm

Ughh.. I hate that song.. I wake up with it in my head like 3 mornings out of 7 for absolutely no reason at all..

I won't deny that the man has talent... but when you come from Long Island its almost like you have to like him or you will be taken out and lynched...my parents Loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooove Billy Joel, but they have good taste too.

Man all this talk makes me so wish I was over on your side - I'd love to jam with you guys..

Heh heh ... The Great and The Good would awesome ... it's a bit slow though

Land of Sunshine is a cracker, think that should be a serious contender.

I think maybe Black Hole Sun by Soundgarden would be a doable tune.

Or Jessica by the Allman Brothers ... cos there's no singing on it

Ooh.  How 'bout that Ugly Kid Joe song I Hate Everything About You?

It's kinda funny and fits in with Stead's philosophy of hating everyone!

Plus... there's another (entirely different) song called Everything I Hate About You by Three Days Grace that could be quite good too.

I'm another dime a dozen vocalist - went to school for it and everything... yeah I know.. what a shock...

I also play piano and while I woudln't insult real guitar players by saying I PLAY the guitar.. I do that too..

I haven't played out in so long.. I miss it

Well... you ain't never gonna be as musically talented as me!  I'm just so great...

er... moving on...

How about Save Me by Remy Zero.  It has a great chorus, although the rest of the song is... frankly shite.  But it does have the advantage of appealing to Stead's Superman fanboy tendencies on account of being used as the Smallville theme.

Here's the list so far, anyway:

Our Lips are Sealed, Jane Weildin
Anything from the Rocky Horror Picture Show
Salisbury Hill, the Erasure version
Run to the Hills, Iron Maiden
The Great and the Good, Napalm Death
Land of Sunshine, Faith No More
Black Hole Sun, Soundgarden
I Hate Everything about You, Ugly Kid Joe
I Hate Everything About You, Three Days Grace
Save Me, Remy Zero

Have I missed any?
