I'm sorry.  Any faith I have in the american public (present company excepted of course) has just been flushed down the toilet with a healthy dose of poo.


Apparently Nick Park had to tone down the British accents in the new Wallace & Gromit movie:





"We had to change some of the language, tone down some of the British accents and make them speak more clearly so the American audiences could understand it all better."



I'm sorry, America.  You're all dumb.  Now go and tone down some of the American accents in your movies so we can understand them better... no wait... we understand them just fine.  'COS WE'RE BETTER THAN YOU!


Um...  Except the Bored Boarders.  You're all quite clever and jolly nice.

Unfortunately King, the movie companies have to create the movies for the "lowest common denominator" and here in America, that denominator is pretty low. I love Wallace and Grommit and will be appalled if I go into the theater and hear Wallace with an American accent.

well maybe by 'toning down' they mean that the characters will all just speak a but slower and shout it a bit louder?

I have no problems with british accents. Actually I find them quite... well.. hot The only accent I ever have trouble with is scottish. Somehow, I just can't wrap my head around that one unless it's spoken veeeeeeeeeery slowly.

Yeah, well, I can't understand redneck but I still liked Deliverence.

It's bloody stupid though, they had the same problems with Valiance mind so not exactly new

Yeah - it took a little while to wrap my head around it - its not a book you can just pick up and read a wee bit of.. you have to find a flow and go with it - :)

Irvine Welsh is one of my faves
