I've just been at my mother's holiday shed in Dartmouth. Now I'm at Cullompton Services having a... er... comfort break!

Bank Holidays Rock!

I'm fresh back from my holidays (a day late mind you, but that's another story entirely!)

The kids have been packed off to Granny's house for the week.

Simon's out for a drive, so I have the house to myself.  And what do I do with my free time?  I drop by to see you, my friends.

No fair!  I used up all my annual leave by July, our next BH isn't till the end of next month

As for granny taking the kids, no one would have mine for a week!

I had to promise my kids a treat when they get back to get them to leave with her!

I feel so guilty!

Hey, you should be glad that you don't have to promise your parents a treat to take them!

It's not fair.  I don't have any kids to inflict on anyone!

On the other hand, I think I do quite well out of that deal...

Actually - I think it's only right that I should share my experiences of the bank holiday weekend with you lot.  After all, why should I suffer alone?

I went to Dartmouth to visit my mother, who has what she euphamistically refers to as a 'chalet' - pronounced 'shally' (by her, anyway).  Much as I love my Mum, she's very... boring and is capable of inducing intense irritation.  To unequivocally demonstrate this, I was forced to sit in the back of her car while she made my poor hen-pecked Dad drive around Dartmouth looking for a parking space.

For 40 minutes.

This is about what it would be to get my parents to take my kids (if I had any ).
