Rant

I am now going to rant about the imbeciles I have the misfortune to share a suprmarket with:

So, I have a basket & wish to pay by card.  I walk past the regular tills on my way to the basket only tills, just in case, but the basket only appears the best option.  There are two basket only tills, but the one with the (much) shorter queue is also cash only, so, seeing no urgent need to rebel, I join the other one.  The SIX, yes, that's right, SIX people in front of me ALL PAY IN CASH!  They all take forever faffing about it too, far longer than it takes to pay by card.  Now why would anyone do this?  What thought process causes them to opt for the obviously longer queue, destroying a perfectly good system?  %*%$$%**  *%^$$$ *^%$$&^%$

(Sorry, am I ranting out of proportion?)

Nope.  With you on that one.  Why do they have cash only tills and no card only till?  Hmm?  And what's with these new self-service tills?  In what way do they benefit me?

I hate supermarkets.  Fortunately mine is 24-hour, so I have the option of going when there's no-one else there!

Self-service?  Ain't got nothing that fancy round here.  Beats being served by one of the many moronic cashiers I've encountered. Have 2 24hr ones & one that opens late, but none of this is any good to me on a Sunday.

I very rarely go to supermarkets these days, prefer independant shops.  Partly for comendable reasons; like supporting the local economy, rather than fat-cat multi-national conglomerates and being able to leave the car at home & partly for more pressing reasons; they're actually cheaper for a lot of things, you don't end up buying a load of junk you didn't actually want (made myself go round putting things back earlier) and they actually have a vested interest in providing good service.

self service tills! i love them, of course here in backwards NI we dont have them but in NC they have them in all their supermarkets - you dont have to make small talk with some silly cashier place - and you can use some sort of stolen credit card at the.. oh wait, not that last one

now once we get self service tills here it'll only be a matter of time before we get drive-in atms - can't wait!!!

I'll have you know there's been a drive-in atm since at least 1995 in Liverpool.  Oh, wait, you mean some paces have more than one???

Erm, yes. Edina has like fourty drive-through ATMs.

Hmmm, I pay with cash, much faster than any transaction with plastic could occur... However, I do have an advanced degree in Finance and keep my cash very organized...

Speaking of shopping and Edina, it's the home of the first enclosed, U.S. shopping mall:

Ah yes, my alma matter.

Heh, speaking of Edina, looks like my old house is on the market!

There's some nice pictures in the 360 'Virtual Tour' link, actually.

Don't think I'll be buying it back during this go around, though...

Well my across the street neighbors house is for sale. I can't get over how few people want to live in good ole Decatur IL. The housing prices are so low.

You can see a very poor picture of my old house if you do the 360 view of the front of the listed house and look at the house directly across the street on the left.

The ad makes no mention that the Listing Agent is also the owner of property. Guess we know where his commission is going. I wonder if he even tells the buyer until closing.

Hmmm, can't get that work, Brian. Gives me the following error:

internal error 1064:You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'LIMIT 1,1' at line 1

For some reason, this is kosher, but not if they're representing the buyer, as I understand it...

Sorry I think I have the page cached. The address is 1950 W. Forest Ave Decatur IL 62522. You can search it on the main site, I think it uses flash or something so each listing does not have its own URL
