Nearly had a serious car crash today

Some idiot came straight at my, driving at the "wrong side" of the road and we almost had a head-on collision at high speed...!!!

My car almost ended up much like my brother's car did a while back:

Ouch.  That's nasty!

There's no accounting for tossers on the road.

I saw the aftermath of a really awful accident on 1st ave today - it was a bmw - or rather what was left of a bmw - and it was almost half way up a pole on one tire - the other tires were either flown across the road or dangling from the wreckage..

looked really painful..

Yeah, do you believe my brother, who was driving, wasn't even seriously hurt? He only had a few cuts on his hands from the broken glass. He did have a sore neck for a few weeks, but that completely disappeared.

His collegue, who was in the passenger seat, was seriously hurt. He was unconscious and had a very serious cut along the side of his head. He had to stay in hospital for some time and even suffered a haemorrhage (don't know if I speeled it correctly)Don't forget, we drive on the "right" side of the road here in Belgium, so you can see the passenger side is much more messed up.

What happened was, my brother came to a stop at the end of a traffic jam, behind a big lorry. He turned on his warning lights, but some idiot in a big Merc came at him from behind at full speed. My brother saw him coming in his rear view mirror. The Merc hit him and they were "pushed" under the lorry that was in front of them. The left corner of the back of the lorry, penetrated my brother's car and hit his collegue, right on his head, hence the big cut.

I think, if you look at those pictures, nobody would disagree, they were both very, very lucky!

I say again... 'Ouch'.

I take it there was no permanent damage.

Of course, Merc drivers don't need to adhere to the rules of the road.  They've paid so much for their car that it absolves them from any responsibility.  They don't need to brake, because people in cheaper vehicles should get out of the way.  They don't need to indicate because people in cheaper cars should bloody well know where they're going.  They don't need to park properly because their cars are expensive enough to warrant two or even three spaces in a car park... shall I go on?

The wife of one of the guys I used to work with was in a really nasty car crash about 3 years ago.  She had both legs severed.  Very nasty.  That was down to a prickmobile driver, too.
