The devil thing (aye-aye) is a prosimian, not a monkey or an ape. A sort of proto-primate thing.

er, I suppose so, I really meant why (apart from thats how God made them, natch) is it a protosimian as oppose to an ape or a monkey, i.e. what are the physiological differences?

Hokay.

Lots of things, but one clear feature is the nose. It has a dog type nose, with sensory material on the outside. Monkeys and apes have it on the inside. Seems this is related to an evolutionary leap toward using other senses more than olfaction (vision, vocalisations etc), associated with living in larger groups. There is probably other stuff, but I don't know much about prosimians.

If this gets me banned from the message board for being a boring person, then I blame Santa.
