a winge by katie

so it's true - something good must be about to happen my family for:
(1) just at the end of last year i had a car accident
(2) over the new year my mum and dad's oil tank burst spilling the £200 worth of fuel all over the garden
(3) ...twice!
(4) through various different ailments (tonsillitis etc) and whatnot i've managed to be on 3 different types of anitbiotics this year so far.. mmh, antibodies.
(5) the battery in my dad's van (for his business) ran down last sunday (door not shut) - and low and behold it locked up the computery electronics and the nissan people can't fix it .. at all  (you cant with a nissan.. wait, that doesnt go so well huh)
(6) my sister skid on some ice and her skirt (on her car darren) fell off.. £300
(7) and just today my car broke down on the motor way 60miles from home
... teehee, me and my dad illegally towed her home tho, and we're very proud of ourselves that we managed it
anyway, i'm not complaining (all tho it does sound like it doesnt it.. ) i'm just excited about the excitingly good thing that's going to happen to us :)..
.. do share your woes with me oh people of the bored board (make me feel less bad about whining)

Not quite on the same scale, but here goes:

1) I had to be at work at 7.00 yesterday (saturday) morning;

2) On my return from work at lunchtime I found that the boiler had gone out and the house was freezing;

3) Upon attempting to relight said boiler, we discovered that it wouldn't;

4) The house is still freezing;

5) So are my toes;

6) Vic's toes are freezing, too;

7) And worst of all, Vic is subjecting me to The Princess Diaries on dvd!

I realise that technically numbers 2 - 6 inclusive could be considered to be different aspects of the same problem, but I just wanted to emphasize just how pointy cold it is in my house!!!!  Vic is wearing 2 pairs of bed socks, fleecy pyjamas, my dressing gown and is tightly wrapped in a big thick fleece blanket.  With icicles hanging off her nose...

Did you know that there isn't a 'cold' smiley...

Hey - I like the princess diaries - fantastic feel good movie!!  Right up there with The Sound of Music & My Fair Lady!

The books it is (very roughly) based on are even better!

I can recommend any of Meg Cabot's book (bear in mind they are kid's books) - they are pretty good quality compared to most of the junk out there at the moment!!  Nicola & the Viscount was particularly good - I think it's a good one to get kids on the road to reading some of the classics (my favourite author being Jane Austin!!).

Go on - give 'em a go!!

Katie - I see that you are so cool we don't even know you're cool!

We are very cool so cool it hurts.  I just opened a bottle of red wine and we were both very amused at the way that the red wine (which should be served at room temperature and came out of the wine rack in our dining room) was colder than the stuff in the fridge!!

Thank goodness for wheat bags!

Luckily we have an immersion on the hot water tank so at least we can have hot showers tonight (then run steaming in the cold down the landing to get under the duvet as quick as posible!).

Susan - thank you very much for the offer!  I'm gonna phone Crest again tomorrow and see if they'll send someone round (apparently they do cover the boiler but not out of hours unless it's an emergency - they say that as we can actually get hot water it isn't classed as an emergency!).
