I don't believe it

My son has just come home from school with a new assignment:"Design a revolutionary new gun for use in World War Three"
What does the school think it is playing at? I am totally stunned. He is 9 years old for Heaven's sake.  What is the world coming to?
Second thoughts, I'm not stunned, I'm fight Take your pick, I'm all of them.
That Headmaster's gonna get a taste of some of it tomorrow, that's for sure.

Nah, he still gets homework! I've asked him to design a new sort of car that doesn't need petrol or deisel instead. Same teaching principles, i.e., lateral thinking, innovation, etc, but without the direct KILLING PEOPLE theme.

That is absolutely mental!

I wonder did the girls in the class get the same assignment

The girls were asked to design a new Ballet step. Unsurprisingly Cian wasn't up for that one.

Not exactly pc, huh?  I have already written a rather strongly worded letter.

<and no-one will have noticed your boo-boo Joe, I'm sure>

Yay, strongly worded letters to people in authority rule! Just make sure that you dont make your son deliver it - when i was a lad (many moons ago, sackcloth, short trousers ) an incident happend and my mum wrote a letter to the teacher involved and one for the head mistress as well - although an apology was forthcoming the remainder of the year was made a living hell for me by the teacher.

Now that same teacher is going out with my cousin (she is quite a bit older than me), and needless to say not many people in my immeadiate family can stand the man - goit!

Susan, I think it's very important that you paste a copy of the letter in this thread.  It will do us all good to see someone (other than us) getting a proper telling off, like!

On the other hand, it could be a gun that fires a flurry of leaflets promoting world peace.  The enemy wouldn't be able to see for the cloud of positive sentiment allowing the good guys to either make their escape or get in there to give the bad guys a good telling off (complete with finger waggling).

<whisper> psst, joe - i corrected your seplling mistake with my magic powers...  no-one need ever know! </whisper>

Susan - How did it go with the letter to the school?

I cannot believe that anyone could be so stupid as to think that that was an acceptable homework assignment - I thought our teachers were trained or something!
