Girl Gamers

Here's an amusing article on the BBC Site.  I particularly like the bit about half way through with the PMS Whore.  He he he.

No, but it's a lesson to all of us.  Don't talk to Katie on AIM.  She may move in with you!

"However, 8th and 12th grade females were less likely than males to like math and science, and less likely to think they were good in math and science"

hmmm... odd. I liked my math and science classes. I didn't even need to take math in 10th and 11th grades because I had already acquired enough math/science credits and I still took optional classes. *shrug*

(Didn't take any my senior year tho. Not that I didnt like math, more that I preferred to sleep late and go to school at noon )

This reads odd to me:

"The computer culture gender gap mirrors adolescent female and male attitudes toward science and math. The National Center for Educational Statistics documents achievement gaps related more to attitudes than to course taking (Bae, Choy, Geddes,  Sable, & Snyder, 2000). Female high school graduates have taken as many or more upper level classes in math, biology, and chemistry.  However, 8th and 12th grade females were less likely than males to like math and science, and less likely to think they were good in math and science."

Er, so they take more or less then?

Mind numbing...

Female high school graduates have taken as many or more upper level classes in math, biology, and chemistry.  However, 8th and 12th grade females were less likely than males to like math and science, and less likely to think they were good in math and science.

So while they're less likely to take these classes, it turns out, in fact, that they have! WTF?
