Paul Newman, R.I.P.

It seems that Pail Newman passed away this weekend.

I thought I'd seen quite a few of his movies, but when I looked at this list on the BBC website, it seems I pretty much haven't.

The Silver Chalice, 1955
Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, 1958
The Hustler, 1961
Hud, 1963
Cool Hand Luke, 1967 (pictured)
Rachel Rachel (director), 1968
Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, 1969
The Sting, 1973
The Towering Inferno, 1974
Absence of Malice, 1981
The Verdict, 1982
The Color of Money, 1986
Nobody's Fool, 1994
Road to Perdition, 2002
Cars (voice), 2006

Pretty much only The Towering Inferno, The Colour of Money, Road to Perdition and Cars from the list! I keep meaning to steal my little brother's copy of Cool Hand Luke as I understand it one of the best films ever!

Still, I guess we'll be seeing a season of his movies on the TV in th next few weeks so I should be able to correct that soon enough!

I never saw him in a role that I didn't thoroughly enjoy...In addition, he was one of only a handful of actors I could respect as a human being...He was a true gentleman and I mourn his passing...Ben

The Sting was a good movie - worth a watch in partcular

It was a real shame to see him pass - but he had a good long life and several careers which is nice to see. Just goes to show you dont have to go off the rails to be seen to have talent. Some of the so called 'talents' around today could take lessons from that.

Thanks for the films Paul - RIP

Cool Hand Luke is definately in my top 10 films...the egg eating contest scene is very memorable..

Paul Newman also gave over $200 million to charities which in my book makes him a real hero.
