You know... I was all prepared to say "Yeah, well, for (rediculous cost of plane ticket), he'd better be worth it!"


But then I looked it up on cheaptickets and saw that roundtrip from here to there is only $499 Of course, that's also 12 hours on a plane in coach

Hmm.  At an exchange rate of 1GBP:1.8715 USD, that makes £266.63 which in real currency is around 459 packets of Jammie Dodgers (based on a Tesco price of 58p).  Sounds like a bargain to me.
