It's Raining...

Quite hard actually.

But I'm on holiday for a week, so I don't care!

I got stuck in a nasty downpour earlier today while trying to drive down a steep and winding mountain road with a sheer cliff (and no guard rails) on one side, and a rock wall on the other. It was a two way road, but only about half the width of one. I white-knuckled it the whole way down, wishing I could drive on the other side of the road (hugging the rock wall instead of teetering over the ravine..)

That is how I ended my holiday.

That just about covers it lol. I fired the GPS shortly after.

I should have known something would be weird about that road when I saw the sign saying that it was only open seasonally. Meaning, during any months where there may be ice or snow, they close it because you WILL die.

Kevin assures me that the view on his side of the car was amazing (the ravine side) but I saw none of it. The one quick glance I stole made my stomach lurch and that was enough for me.

But we lived, so I suppose all is well lol

Talking of scary roads I was fleeced 41 Euros for a return trip through the Mont Blanc Tunnel - extortion!  The toll wasn't specified anywhere until you were at the barrier and with a queue of traffic sitting behind there was no option but to pay up and drive on through.

But I survived and am here to tell the tale.

And there was me thinking that £5.30 was a lot to cross the Severn Bridge.

£5.30 to drive into Wales is extortion mate.  You've been ripped off good and proper.

Yes... yes it is, I had to pay it today! - have a word Hengle will you? the next time you're at one of your Welsh meetings? hmmm? If this keeps up we might have to amputate Wales from the host country... like some kind of rotting limb...

Now, you see? that is NOT nice

Nowt to do with me mate, the people who own both Severn Crossings ... and therefore set the fee ... are English.

So it's less us charging you to get in, and more your own charging you to get out.

Hmmm, nobody's ever charged me to get into or out of Wales & I've been there many times. Feel free to draw your own conclusions.

Get out of where, anyway? I've never left England to get into Wales.

Actually the company that owns both (they bought the first one then built the second) is French. That tells us everything we needed to know...
