Movie Review time! India Jones and The last stab at the franchise

OK - so me JDK, Catfish, JDK Snr and JDKs Brother went to see Indiana Jones and the 'dusted off script' last night at the flicks.

All in all I thought it really was good fun. It was gentle on the humour and had the expected 'in jokes' and all the nostalgia you'd expect to see. It tied up the loose ends of the franchise nicely but left a door open for another film if they really wanted to wring another one out.

Also, the stunts were awesome (not the CGI stuff - that was kinda average) and the crystal skull looked like something made out of plastic with tin foil or clingfilm stuffed in it - but the actual stunts performed by real people (fighting, motorcyles that sort of stuff) I thought were top notch.

In the end though it is what it is - kinda like Rocky Balboa and John Rambo its 'once more back to the well' because "the fans wanted to see it" (those of us who were alive when the first ones came out) and the story needed closing (apparently). I dont think you'd regret waiting for the DVD and does anyone else here think £7 ($14) is a bit pricey for a cinema ticket?

It's even pricier when you have to take two seasoned movie-goers with you - namely the kids.

So many films to see, so little time... aww.gif

I quite enjoyed it, but as Stead says, you won't regret waiting for the DVD. It's still a much better movie than similar stuff like National Trasure or the Mummy movies, though. Much better. I think the disappointment relly came from the fact that at least two of the previous Indy movies were absolutely f*cking AWESOME and this one was just kinda... averagely good.

Sorry Ben, we were limiting our comparison to films from the era of the talkies ;)

The fear factor from Karloff, Lugosi, Chaney et al. came from acting, facial expressions, lighting and direction...The so-called "horror films" of today are yawners for me...They rely on special effects and animation too much...No realism for me...Ben

And "The Mummy" was a talkie...
