Bedrooms

According to a survey that our insurance guys did recently:

JDK's Insurance Guys Wrote:

The survey found the average kid's bedroom is worth £1,720 - up seven per cent from 2006 - and some are the best equipped room in the house. One in 10 bedrooms is filled with more than £3,000 worth of goodies...
What the hell do they have in there? When I was a kid, I had a bed, a chest of drawers and a wardrobe. Oh and when I was about 11, I got a portable casette/radio.

Those of us that have kids (by which I mostly mean Susan), must now go and tot up the approximate value of the kit in their kid's bedrooms and report back. Chop-chop.

Ummmm no.

He's got a bed, a dresser, a bookecase, and a toybox. I could maybe get $1000 for the lot (furniture included) if people were feeling incredibly generous.

Granted, he's only 2.  But I don't forsee a huge influx of expensive things - more expensive than my own anyway - being loaded in there until he's got a job of his own.

OK.
Natalia (aged 7) has books and some plastic toys - est. resale value c.£500
Cian (aged 11) is lucky to have the bigger bedroom of the two, so he's inherited my dad's old pc and has a portable stereo - est. resale value c.£800
That's including the value of the furniture.

The parent's they've been surveying are all obviously on benefit so their kids have the newest of everything! wink
