Had to scape ice off the batmobile today,
then decided to drive down the motorway with the window open, my fingers are still numb. So yes, cold.

I used to have to do that in my old Skoda. The heater and the blowers didn't work so the only way to keep the windscreen clear of condensation was to open the windows.

Conversely, the thermostat in the engine of my current car (the mighty Astra) broke last summer, so the only way to keep the engine at a reasonable temperature was to turn the blowers on full and hot. So the windows had to stay open again! It was rather unpleasant.

I've been alternating between hot and cold depending on if I'm in or out.  Am currently warm as I have tea & have just finished watching Season 1 of Rome.  Good stuff!

I've been religiously parking in the garage every night since I tidied it out and stacked all of the JDK's books at one end. Been doing this for about 3 weeks now since there's been threat of frost... I absolutely loathe defrosting my car in the morning!  So what happens on the first morning that we have a hard frost... I forget to put the car in the garage after the weekend... angered.gif

As I type, the car is now safe in the garage for tomorrow morning, and my feet are on a toasty hot water bottle thumbsup.gif

It said 2 degrees on my car display this morning - couldnt believe it - should be 11 tomorrow though even at 8am - how can that be?

Catfish - you're a scientist - explanation please

Ermm... I'm not a meterologist, but I shall try to offer some explanations. Maybe your car was in a sheltered spot outside your house with it read 2 degC. This still cold enough for a frost formed overnight on the car not to have melted. Once you got on the open road did it drop below zero? Our thermometer at work (which has a little sensor outside the window) said -0.5 degC when I got into work this morning. I think my car said less than zero on the open road... can't remember now.

Maybe it will be warmer tonight and tomorrow morning because of cloud cover?
