What's wrong with people?

I'm just...stunned.

I picked up an audioboook copy of Bill Bryson's Short History of Nearly Everything a few weeks ago from Waterstones for £18. Having listened to it, I stuck it on eBay. This evening, the bidding on it went up to £35. This is despite putting in the description 'This cost almost £20 new'. I was expecting about a tenner. Now I've almost doubled my money.

The auction has an hour to go. Anyone want to place any bets on it's finishing price?

So how did it go?

I sold 2nd hand RAM on ebay a few years ago for more than it costs new! and thats something that actually degrades with use! people are strange!

Checked my listings this morning to see how they'd ended. Bryson didn't go up any more, however the Mario Party 8 which was at £20 last time I looked had shot up to £30. That's... um... a fiver more than they could have got it from an Amazon seller and about £2 more than amazon are selling it new.

It wasn't that long ago that I flogged the PC version of the first Halo game for abut £18 on eBay. I'd paid less than a tenner for it on Amazon a few months beforehand.

I'm obviously on a roll. I'm gonna try flogging some of my old socks... or maybe some bread crusts... no.gif

Madness!
I remember selling an old buggy/stroller, a little cheap one you could still buy in Argos, on ebay a few years back.  Sold for £35 plus postage of about a fiver.  Madness I say!
People just get carried away with the bidding.
Still as long as you've described it correctly they've no come back on you if they overpay - more fool them.

went through a phase of buying abuot a dozen PS2 games a week on ebay, then selling them as soon i I got them for about 4 quid more, it mounted up over the month, got bored with it though.
My best sell though was a bass guitar amp.  I bought it in a second hand shop for £35, rattled the hell out of it for a year, so much so the the front plate where the knobs are was vibrating so bad I jammed an old pair of pants behind it then screwed it back on.
I then sold it on for £85!
