Billy Joel Marries 23-Year-Old Fiancee Oct 3, 12:05 PM EST The Associated Press
CENTRE ISLAND, N.Y. -- Singer-songwriter Billy Joel married his fiancee, 23-year-old Kate Lee, in a ceremony Saturday at his Long Island mansion, his record label said. Joel, 55, wed Lee in a sunset wedding at his waterfront home, Newsday reported in its online editions. Columbia Records, Joel's label, announced the marriage Saturday night. A spokeswoman for Joel could not immediately be reached for comment.
on the other hand, his mansion is gorgeous... so it must have been a nice wedding. (i didn't live too far from him when i was in NY.. drove past it quite a lot)
We're talking about a guy who spent his late teens and early twenties living homeless in NYC - bar owners used to let him come in and play the piano for customers in exchange he got to be inside in the warm for a few hours - one night he got approached by a guy from a record label who immediately put him into a hotel and signed him for 5 albums... only in america!
Fair play to the guy - he's written some great stuff -

Lenningrad, Italian Restaurant, Midnight Serenade, Piano Man, River of Dreams - all great songs just to name a few!
He writes great lyrics (OK he does tend to pinch arrangements from classical composers but who doesnt?) and I have seen him kick Elton John's *ss on the piano playing one of Eltons songs live twice!
He maybe out of our generation a bit but so is Paul Simon but you cant ignore their raw talent.
Anyway thats my rant over with

Bill Joel is dreadfull. That is all there is to say on this matter.
Don't really care who he marries though, reminds me of the old interview question "So, Debbie, what first attracted you to the multi-millionaire Paul Daniels" .... of course I could be being a cynical ol' bar steward.

Right, and more, like Stevie Wonder (pre 80's), Ray Charles, Chick Corea, Joey Zawinal, Page McConnell, etc... I'm still not sure whether Billy or Elton should mentioned with such names though in a proper conversation!
