WARNING

Having children can seriously damage your IQ ( )

Another reason not to, then!  He he he he he he he.

(this post does not neccessarily reflect the opinion of the poster (heheheh) and has been posted here merely to inspire intelligent conversation on the subject - although obviously not from those of us who have had kids!  snicker!)

“This explains why every parent thinks their child is the smartest kid in class or the best athlete, even if that child is as dumb as a box of rocks or needs a calendar to time their forty-yard dash.  People who before were intelligent and open-minded turn into raving lunatics who want to blame a teacher or coach every time their mediocre child fails,”

, I like the comparison.

OK, I'll bite.

Why didn't they test the IQ of those who hadn't had kids as a 'control'?
You know, like when you're testing the quality of packaging you throw an unpackaged TV out out of a van travelling at 50mph to see how much damage it incurs before throwing out the ones packed in different wrappings to see how protective they are?
Their IQ might have dropped too.
Could be just the normal aging process.

Phew that's quite enough intelligent thinking for me for now.  Back to my sickbed...

Because my dear Suey - I think its taken as a given that those without kids will have reasonably high IQ's due to the fact that they didnt decided to start having kids - I personally did the Math and decided I didnt want to blow £100k of my hard earned on some little basket who will just give me cheek for 16 years then quit college and nick off round the world...... -

 are you feeling better today?

I can't find a counter argument.  Stead, you win.

I think my fighting spirit seems to have gone missing...

Apart from that I am feeling considerably better today, thanks for asking mate.

Heh heh heh.  I've decided that the UA chat forums been a bit too quiet this week, so I've posted the IQ thing on there in order to stimulate some discussion!

I have met people far dumber than a box of rocks, you can learn a lot from a box of rocks.

Like, how to live in harmony with one another until some bugger comes and shakes you around and then all hell breaks loose?

Well what I really liked was paleoenvironmental reconstruction.  Being somewhere cold & rainy & ucky (Britain!) & finding out from the rocks how much nicer it'd have been if you'd only got there a few million years earlier!
